ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT

«Out in the green» was the project named by the architects due to its location in the hilly and green landscape in Eschlikon (Switzerland). A volume-saving, compositional structural design with two main trusses above the roof defines the architecture of the building. Half-sunk into the terrain, the new building is characterized by its red colored concrete of the basement as well as the blue painted wooden structure above the terrain. The glass façade allows to bring the green nature into the interior of the building, creating a unique atmosphere.

TIMELINE

The construction of the hall started in summer 2020. In January 2021 qiip was awarded by the architects to take over the construction management. The concrete work for the basement was ongoing at that time. qiip took over this task in February 2021 after a very short familiarization with the project. Nevertheless, the handover of the building to the client (municipality of Eschlikon) took place on time and just before Christmas 2021.

CHALLENGES

The high-quality requirements of the client and the architects demanded good coordination of all work as well as constant monitoring on site. Although higher costs in procurement as well as time delays in the delivery of materials (due to the corona pandemic) had to be managed. The tight schedule as well as the costs according to budget could be kept.
