The Federal Council is convinced that the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games represent great opportunities for Switzerland as a host country.

Not only in sport, but also in the economy and society, the Federal Council expects numerous positive effects from the candidature «Sion 2026».

In addition to the opportunity for the international positioning of Switzerland, this also includes regional economic impulses.

The Federal Council supports the candidature and requests in its message to the parliament, to approve the appropriate credits.

The federal government will contribute a maximum of 994 million francs to the project.
